Swine flu is a deadly influenza virus which has two subtypes (H1N1 and H3N2) this deadly virus first originated in 1977 and in May 1977 the virus was isolated in China and Russia. The virus contains HA and NA proteins that have been absent in humans for many years which leads to low immunity to even having none. During the winter of 1977 – 1978 Swine flu caused an epidemic infection throughout the Northern Hemisphere. This virus reappeared in 2009 causing an out-break of the deadly disease which led to the death of millions of humans. This out-break was believed to be caused by accidentally or intentionally letting the virus out of genes lab somewhere in China or Russia as it was being studied.
Spread of Swine Flu
Swine Flu has been scientifically proven to be more contagious than normal seasonal flu. The main way Swine Flu can be transmitted is the coughing and sneezing of an infected person. When coughing or sneezing infected particles will enter the air and have a possibility to be breathed in my others. Though these infected particles don’t stay in the air for too long they still have a high chance of infecting those that are within 2 meters of the infected person. Another way Swine Flu could spread if you touch counters or surfaces where it’s been contaminated by the virus. Though pigs have been infected by this disease it has been proven that it isn't possible to become infected by eating pork or other meat. Though even skin to skin contact with an infected animal will transmit the virus eating infected animals will not be able to infect you with the virus.
Life Cycle of Swine Flu
The life cycle of swine flu would be first the virus attaches itself to a cell, and then it penetrates it and infects it by releasing amounts of RNA into the cell. The cell then duplicates the infected RNA and produces protein which then moves towards the cell’s surface where they can attach themselves to new cells and repeat the cycle.
Swine Flu first originated in China and Russia but the 2009 break-out of Swine Flu began in Mexico. The disease was later on detected in the US and in many other countries.
